BOY LED TROOP |

Troop 299 is a vibrant dynamic group of young men and adults that work, learn, play and experience life together. We follow BSA guidelines and practices as we provide guidance and leadership to the scouts of this boy led unit. The PLC (Patrol Leaders' Council), made up of elected Senior Patrol Leader and Patrol leaders, with their assistants and other appointed leadership, plan and execute weekly Troop meetings and activities. |
Through a Junior Leader Training program and practical experience, the PLC evolves into an active participatory leadership corps. This PLC works directly with your son and other scouts to keep the program alive. It is the cornerstone of troop 299. Adult leadership, supervision and mentoring is provided, but it is important that the scouts in leadership positions make decisions about the overall program. Having a youth run organization sometimes may seem unorganized. However, the experience provides tremendous growth opportunities for those Scouts to develop their leadership skills. As in the real world, Scouts will make mistakes and may not always choose the best solution, but they do learn from these experiences.
